FRANZ LISZT

The theme for our 4th supper club at
Brockham Village Hall, Brockham, Surrey
5th February 2022 is Franz Liszt’s Three Liebesträume (Dreams of Love)

Franz Liszt was born in 1811 in Hungary, into an already well-established musical family. He was an incredibly innovative, well-respected and a legend in his lifetime. During his time in Weimar, Liszt composed and published his piano nocturnes, Liebesträume (Dreams of Love).
This set of three piano works portray Liszt’s romantic writing, as well as programme music. The set was published in 1850 and are a key example of programme music due to their reference to various
poems about love and death.

February is known to many as the Month of Love and what better way for Nocturne Supper Club to celebrate this but to choose Franz Liszt’s Three Liebesträume (Dreams of Love) as the theme for our next event on Saturday, 5th February 2022. And so, what we’re looking at is the curation of food and wine, known in the mid Nineteenth Century in Liszt’s native country, Hungary, and relating to the themes of love throughout his Three Nocturnes.

We are proudly presenting a live performance of all Three of Liszt’s Liebesträume, and more, during the evening, given by the Asian/American pianist from New York, Edward Leung.

Once again, our Chef in Residence, Mary Ince will conjure up a feast appropriate to our composer,
his chosen composition, and time in history, whilst our sommelier,
Corinna Osboure-Patterson will curate thematic wines for the occasion.
